The Organization Fiscal Calendar defines how periods, quarters, and fiscal years are structured across Shopperations. This redesigned experience makes calendar setup faster, safer, and more intuitive, while aligning with common finance practices.
⚠️ Important:
The Fiscal Calendar Type you choose for your initial fiscal year applies to all future fiscal years.

Organization Admins only
Creating Your Initial Fiscal Year Calendar
Step 1: Navigate to Calendar Settings
Log in as an Organization Admin
Go to Organization Settings → Calendar
If no calendar exists yet, you’ll see Add Initial Fiscal Year
Step 2: Create Initial Fiscal Year
Click Add Initial Fiscal Year to open the setup form.
Required Fields
Fiscal Year Calendar Type
Choose one of the following (applies to all future years):Custom Calendar
12-Month Calendar
13-Period Calendar
4-4-5 Calendar
4-5-4 Calendar
5-4-4 Calendar
Initial Fiscal Year
Select from a list starting at 2014 through current year + 10Fiscal Year Start Date
Defaults to the first month of the selected fiscal year
Step 3: Review the Generated Periods
Once you select a calendar type, year, and start date:
The Preview of Generated Periods table appears
Periods and quarters are auto-generated (except for Custom calendars)
You can edit:
Quarter
Period End Date
The system automatically displays:
Period end day (e.g., Sunday)
Period duration (weeks/days)
Built-In Validation (Error Prevention)
The system protects against common setup mistakes:
❌ Selecting quarters out of order
→ “Quarters must be in order”❌ Setting a period end date before a prior period
→ “End date for any period cannot be earlier than end dates of the periods preceding it”
When errors exist, Create Fiscal Year is disabled.
Step 4: Create the Fiscal Year
Click Create Fiscal Year once all validations pass.
🎉 Your initial fiscal calendar is now saved.
Understanding Fiscal Calendar Types
Custom Calendar
Choose 12 or 13 periods
Manually assign: Quarter and Period end dates
12-Month Calendar
12 calendar-month periods
Quarters = 3 months each
13-Period Calendar
13 equal periods
Each period = 4 weeks (28 days)
4-4-5 / 4-5-4 / 5-4-4 Calendars
12 periods total
Each quarter has three months with varying week lengths
Patterns repeat every quarter
