The Tactics page includes flexible grouping options to help you organize and analyze tactics. Grouping allows you to roll up data, compare tactics across events, and choose the view that best matches your workflow.
Grouping Options
Group by Event
This is the most traditional view and a great place to start.
It mirrors the Events > Spend tab, but with the added benefit of letting you work across all events on a single page.
You can expand multiple events at once, add or edit tactics, and never have to navigate away from the page.
✅ Best for beginners who are new to the Tactics page.
Group by Budget Name
Ideal for organizations that are budget or funding focused.
Shows exactly how one budget is being spent across all tactics, regardless of the event.
Helps you reconcile a budget by reviewing every tactic tied to it across multiple events.
✅ Best for finance-minded users who want to ensure budget accuracy.
Ungrouped View
Displays tactics in a flat grid, without grouping.
This mode is great for sorting and filtering, for example:
See all tactics with a certain status (e.g., Approved, Committed, Final Billed).
Review tactics from a specific vendor.
Find tactics that have already ended or are scheduled to begin in an upcoming quarter.
✅ Best for advanced sorting, filtering, and cross-event analysis.
How Grouping Affects Event Creation
When you create a new event from the Tactics page:
In Group by Event mode, the new event appears as a new expandable group in the grid.
In Ungrouped View, the event name becomes available in the Event Name dropdown for tactic entry.
In Group by Budget mode, the event’s tactics will appear under their associated budget once tactics are added.
Using Filters with Grouping
Filters on the Tactics page work the same way as they do on the Events page.
Apply filters for brands, products, initiatives, event tags, tactic type, or status to refine what you see.
Filters can be used in combination with any grouping mode. For example:
Group by Event + filter by Initiative to see only tactics from a specific initiative.
Group by Budget Name + filter by Product to see how a single budget is being spent on a particular product.
Use Ungrouped View + filter by Status to quickly check all Approved tactics across events.
✅ Tip: Start with Group by Event if you’re new to the Tactics page. As you get more comfortable, try Group by Budget or Ungrouped View for deeper analysis and more advanced workflows.
